The Halo 3 hype machine kicked into full gear today as the ESPN Monday Night Football Halo 3 commercial and multiplayer beta signup began (at Halo3.com).

Halo3.com seemed to take the initial rush fairly well, but the Halo 3 Beta registration servers were down for a good couple hours before, during, and after the Monday Night Football commercial.  The registration was as simple as logging into a Microsoft Passport account, filling in your address/etc and clicking to register (no questionaire provided).

Microsoft knows it has a monster on its hands and is using it to grab every gamer that can't get their hands on a PS3 or Wii this holiday season!
